These are a multi-use short. One of the intended uses is swimming, but because it's not solely a swimsuit, there isn't any "built-in underwear" inside. That said, the fabric is perfect for swimming and feels like a very lightweight swim trunk.
These were designed for bodies that traditionally do not have curvy hips. Just note this when deciding on sizing.
